Sun, 01 Feb 2026 00:01:09 GMT

UNC Asheville will move to Condition 2 - Suspended Operations at 10 p.m. today, January 31, until 8 a.m. Monday, February 2. Essential services, including University Police and Residence Life, will continue to be available to resident students. Residence halls, Brown Hall, and Highsmith Student Union will operate under regular business hours. The Student Recreation Center will be open Sunday, February 1, 1 - 5:30 p.m.

We will continue to actively monitor any impacts to the community. Changes to the University’s condition status and operations will be communicated through Bulldog Alert, with the next update by 12 p.m. on Sunday, February 1.

Portions of Western North Carolina, including UNC Asheville, continue to be under a Winter Storm Warning and an Extreme Cold Warning. Slick roads, blowing snow, and dangerously cold wind chills could make travel difficult. Please be mindful of conditions and use caution when walking on campus. Campus Operations are prioritizing the clearing of sidewalks between Brown Hall and the residence halls. If you do travel, please exercise caution and dress in layers, including a hat, face mask, and gloves.

A list of resources that will be useful for the duration of the storm and subsequent cold weather can be found at www.weather.gov.
